About Free Tax Prep L.A.

Free Tax Prep Los Angeles is a trustworthy and stress-free way to file your taxes.

About Our Program

Free Tax Prep Los Angeles or Volunteer Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, has been available to residents and families for over a decade and has offered free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

The goal of the program is to educate and provide money-saving tax services to Los Angelenos who make less than $64,000 a year in gross income reaching the rich demographic of communities that make up LA County. Similar programs are offered throughout the country, but FTPLA is unique to LA County residents and is highly supported as well by the City of Los Angeles - Community Investment for Families Department, The Los Angeles County Consumer & Business Affairs, and community and non-profit groups K.Y.C.C and United Way of Greater L.A.

Filing your taxes can get you access to cashback tax credits and stimulus payments. Eligible individuals may be entitled to up to $10,000 in Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, CalEITC, Young Child Tax Credit, and additional federal stimulus payments. ITIN filers are also newly eligible for state tax credits and stimulus payments.

There are Free Tax Prep LA sites across the County of Los Angeles.

Free tax help and other money saving support services are available to you as well through our program:
